Description
A ring steeped in sentimentality. Acrostic rings were intended to relay terms of endearment, names and secret messages, using the first letter of each gemstone. They were first popularised in the Georgian era, continuing to remain popular through the Victorian era.
This particular ring spells out the commonly used word ‘regards’. The gemstones are ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby, ‘diamond’ (in this case CZ) and sapphire.
The stones are set into a beautifully detailed 9ct gold setting with scrolled gallery. This ring is not antique, but rather a modern reproduction. There are hallmarks for Birmingham, but no date letter, meaning it dates from after 1998.
Currently a size L 1/2 or 6.25, and resizable.
