Description
A breathtaking antique cluster ring set with a deep blue sapphire and old cut diamonds.
This is such an intriguing piece full of charming details. The sapphire is bezel set, and has flashes of teal that come alive as the stone moves. I believe it to be a natural, earth mined sapphire. Surrounding it is a halo of no less than 14 old cut diamonds. They are of varying colours, from J to about a V! This variation is part of the ring’s charm, and antique lovers will know this is a trait to be appreciated.
The diamonds measure 2mm each, and the sapphire measures 6mm in diameter. The ring face as a whole measures 13mm in diameter.
All stones are secure, having recently been checked by a jeweller. They are in excellent antique condition. The sapphire has very light wear a couple of the table facets, which is best visible under 10x magnification.
There is a faded mark on the outside of the band – sadly not properly legible, but the ring tests as 9ct gold.
The band is 1.5mms in width but is relatively thin. As of now it is perfectly safe for careful daily wear, but potentially in years to come one might want to bring it to a jewellers to get a new, thicker shank.
Currently a size Q/8.5 and suitable for gentle resizing. It weighs 2.92g.
This piece would make a fine choice for an engagement ring!
