Description
A charming antique Victorian gypsy ring, made of 9ct rose gold. This antique offering comprises of four round cut paste stones, with a seed pearl on either side.
Set in a square/box design with a striking vertical line down the centre, the paste stones are of a bright red colour. They are likely replacements of earlier rubies or garnets. The seed pearls are original to the ring in my opinion.
This ring has a low profile and sits flat on the finger, making it very comfortable. One thing to note about this piece is that it looks like the shank is a replacement – quite common for the time. The current shank has a hallmark for Chester 1882. You can see in the photos where the ‘new’ shank has been soldered. These marks are only aesthetic and pose no structural danger!
Otherwise, this antique Victorian gypsy ring is in very good antique condition.
It is a size M/6.5. I would not recommend resizing this ring due to its history!
