Description
A magnificent Edwardian ruby diamond ring, modelled in bright 18ct yellow gold. This ring is a lovely example of late Victorian/Edwardian design.
It features six shining diamonds totaling an estimated 0.25cts, with a deep red facteted ruby sitting proudly in the centre. These two stones contrast beautifully and effect is nothing less than breathtaking!
I have a hunch that this Edwardian ruby diamond ring began life as a more tradition half-hoop type ring. The ruby and its setting seems to be a later addition (of the same era), and the result of a skillful and sympathetic remodel. If this is the case it certainly only adds to its charm.
It also features lovely scrollwork on the shoulders. It has full, crisp hallmarks for Chester 1904. What a delight to have a ring with hallmarks in such good condition. The overall condition of this ring is excellent for its age!
There is evidence of previous resizing though I can’t be sure how many times exactly. I would not recommend resizing more than one other time in the future if possible, to make sure the strength of the metal is not impacted.
Total weight of this ring is 3.21g and it is a size M 1/2 / 6.75.
